I got my Passport stamped on 2/12 and applied for a replacement SS the same day.
I received my new SS yesterday but it still has the words "Valid for work only with INS authorization".
Can any of you tell me what you see on your new SS card?

Yes I did apply for new SS card on 10th floor, next to INS office.
Did the person who took your SS card application check your Passport for GC stamp? Mine did.

Did you apply for Replacement ? or Removal of Condition on your SSN Card ..


Did they took Copy of your passport ? .Normally they make copy of your passport with stamp..

Go to SSN office and tell them that you want the Condition to be removed since you are PR now.....
 
What form did you guys use to have that condition removed ?
Is it the SS-5 form ? Please let me know
 
The Form that was given to me did not have anything about "Removal of Condition". It only had "Replacement".
Hence I had to tell the Person verbally.
She probably did not understand.
Please advise.

The SS form for replacement or removing conditions is the same. The reason for your application must be clearly stated at the time of filing. I think this case is just a case of misunderstanding.

It may not be a bad idea to wait for the plastic and then reapply. I did so and got the SSN changed in 10 days.

Did you check the "Legal Alient allow to work" box when you filed the SSN application form?

I applied for SSN replacement the day I got my passport stamped. The officer just threw my old card to the garbage can and checked my stamped passport. Then she input all my infor to the computer. I got my new SSN in about two weeks.

i had similar experience..for me the lady in SSN office checked her computer with my 'A' number and said the system is not updated with u r status
so she asked me to come after i receive the card

To All

I went to a SS Office in NYC by City Hall and the lady knew exactly what I was talking about. This Building also has INS offices.
I got the new Cards with the Line removed.
My suggestion is that "Preferably, we should go to SS office in the same building as INS, since these offices will know what we are talking about"
