I disagree with Susie.
Pointing out a spelling mistake of someone whose English is not their first language would be rude in my opinion. And I found Euro to be far, far, far from being rude in his posts...ever
I wasn't saying he was rude. But in English, I have never seen "sic" used in the way you describe. It is used when quoting something verbatim to indicate that any spelling or typo is from the original and not an error from the person using it. It is not used to point out an error of fact in the quote.
So if you are correct in your interpretation, then he was mistaken in the way he used it.
