Hi,

I recently got my green card.

My Questions:

1. Is there a time limit we need to be in US before
we travel to home country after receiving the green card?

2. Do we need to get stamped in the passport for the travel?

3. How long we can stay outside of US?

--- you can go out of same day you get GC in hand

------------if no card in hand get passport stamped from Local USCIS (take the infopassand then go to Local office)
3. How long we can stay outside of US?
you should not stay out more than 1 year from your departure from US. to be safe is not to stay more than 6 months out of US. if you apply for Reentry permit one can stay more than 1 year and need to be back before rentry expires.

One more question, Is there a time limit we need to stay with the employer who filed the GC, after receiving the GC?

many lawyers say stay for minimum6 months OR get fired and keep evidence that you were fired
 
Ginnu,

I got my gc few days back...I have moved frm employer who filed GC on EAD to a new employer an yr back, but didn't inform USCIS..I moved frm old employer after more than 6 months of my 140 approval and I485 pending..I would like to stay with my current employer for a while(I didn't inform USCIS or file AC21)..should I inform them now, or anything I should be doing now?
 
Some more questions about staying outside


1.Will Staying outside US for 6 months in the current year and then 6 months in the next year will count as 1 year if the one year period after PR falls
between that time?

2. For this calculation a year is calculated based on the day a person got PR status or it is fiscal year?
