hi Guys:
2 weeks ago, i finally got my citizenship. as a member of this forum ( been 4,5 years now), i would like to share my exp with others.
Basic timeline:
Asylum granted in 2000
GC Granted in 2004
Apply for US Citizenship in 2009.
Interview EXP.
very simple. they asked me to bring my passport, Select Service letter, GC, thats it.
it was a lady interviewed me. first she asked me some questions about the application. basically make sure everything is accurate and you are not terrist.
she asked me if i have moved since i filled out the application, i said Yes, but forgot to notify the Immigration, so she let me signed a changing adddress form. after that, she asked me if i have left the US since i filled out the application, i said yes, two times to Canada, she checked her records and confirmed.
Then she started to ask some civil questions. she only asked me 5, very easy. also asked me to read a sentence and write a sentence.
After 15-20 interview, she said " i dont see why you cannt be a US citizen.", she gave me schedule for taking oath, which was like a week away. then i left.
Most of ppl that went to interview took about 15-20 mins.
For those of you who are curious, Yes, i have gone back home because my grandma got sick. And i did brought medical record with me when interviewing.
And she did not ask, but this is a huge YMMV. you may face an officer who will question your trip to your country, just a friendly reminder.
Finally, i would like to tell everyone who is still waiting for GC or Citizenship or anything that .....Everything will be fine at the end, if not, then it is not the end.
