EAD Expiring next week - Still waiting for new card

I filed on Jul 2 (Texas) and my current EAD expires next week.

My lawyer will make infopass appointment next week if my EAD card is not received.

I hear from this buletin board that there is no such thing as an "Interim EAD".

I am afraid my employer may let me go if I am absent for too long.

If I am laid off from my job because I can't work, will there be problems with my Green Card that may be approved this fall? (RoW, PD Jul04)

Thanks...

This is a very common scenario; the USCIS advised to apply 120 in advance to avoid delay and said that the cards supposed to be issued within 90 days. You applied even less than 90 days from the expiration of your card. Infopass should be after 90 days and if before that no one will listen to you in the center. You can not work with expired card even with pending application for renewal and you should go on unpaid vacation. If you will be without job, this mostly will adversely affect your employment based pending I-485. Hopefully you will get your card soon.
