Hi Everyone,

Both my wife & I are Canadian citizens. We have been and currently on TN. I am an engineer and she is a registered nurse. We both have bachelor degrees. Our 2 boys were borned in the US and I think we will be here for a long time. After brownsing this forum and I see the advanges of the Green Card and would like to plan for it. I also ready the long but well-put thread TN to Green Card by AOS. I believe I have few options below:

1. Wait another 16 years for my kids to sponsor us.
2. Go from TN to GC
3. Go from TN to H1B to GC
4. My wife's brother is a GC holder and married to a US citizen. He will become US citizen soon. Can He sponsor us?
4. My mother-in-law from my wife is a GC holder, possibly will become a US citizen soon, can she sponsor us?

Just wondering what is the good option for us, thru me as an engineer or thru her as a nurse. Which one is safe, low cost, fast etc? Another option?

I thank in advance for your inputs

Yes, but that'll take over 10 years.

Yes, but that'll take over 10 years.

I could be wrong but I believe the fastest and easiest way in your case would be to have your wife's employer sponsor her for a GC. Since she's a RN which is a pre-approved occupation, her employer does not need to file a PERM for her which saves a lot of hassel. I believe her employer can just file an I-140 for her right away. Once her priority date is current, she can file I-485, AP and EAD. Once you and your wife have both AP and EAD, you guys are pretty much set. No need for TN any more. Just work and travel on EAD and AP until you get your green card. Your employer can also sponsor you for a GC but there's more work since Engineer is not a pre-approved occupation. The employer will have to file a PERM first. Hope this helps. Good luck.

If the kids to sponsor me

Hi All,
So if I go with option 1 and wait for my USC kids to turn 21 to sponsor me it would take about a year? is this correct? I read somewhere in the family section.

Thx in advance

You 'hope' that you will be here a long time had better have a better foundation than staying on TN until your 5-yr old child reaches 21. Too many factors out of your control could easily force you to leave US involuntarily. (One simple scenario: you get divorced and you lose job).

One of you need to push theur current employer to get GC, and the logical one at present would be the nurse, as previously stated.
