Not a good idea to post your email address on a website, because spammers use automated software to scan websites and weed out email addresses to send junk mail to.
To answer your questions:
1- The AOS applicant must be in the US when she applies for an AP and cannot leave until it is approved.
2- The AOS applicant must return to the US before the expiration of the AP she had in hand when she left. A new one cannot be applied for, obtained, and then mailed to her. Such an AP is invalid for reentry (if rules are followed).
The ideal situation is if the person has a long summer break, in which case one can apply for the AP in May/June in order to obtain it by August, then leave and return the following June before it expires and apply for a new one.
Alternatively, having the principal applicant parent gain H-1B status would enable the daughter to obtain an H-4 visa (depending on age) and not need to worry about the AP as long as the visa is valid.
