Advance Parole Approved! (I-131) in 28 Days!

Does anyone know for what period of time do the USCIS appove the advanced parole?

I will be sending out the AP docs today. Just wonder if this is one time use or unlimited until it expires. Is this like b1/b2 visa of some sort. My second question is My wife has not updated her passport she is using her madiens name - on all of the documents we use her family name. Will there by any problems at the border when comming back into the U.S?

Thanks.

That AP is valid to use for a year. Valid for multiple entries (if you chose that choice on the form). Valid for 1 year when you come in back to the US (meaning you get an I-94 with advance parole for 1 year when you come back to the US).

There should not be a problem with the passport thing, but keep a copy of the marriage certificate just in case.

What should I include with my AP

* Copy of Passport
* Copy of Visa in Passport
* Copies of all Reciepts (i-30;1-485 Every receipt that I have)
* 2 Color Photos with Name and A# printed on the back
* Copy of previous i-94
* Check for $170
and ofcourse the i-131 form

Is there anything else that I need to include?

Well, nothing in the mail today... :( For the amount of money one pays for this process they should overnight us all the NOAs and documents... :p

note: post 700

You do not need to travel before Sept 6, 2007?

What if you name check is stuck? I would still file it if I were you, specially since prices are going UP... July 30th.

Iwill be traveling after September 20, slso since I got my interview in September would they do the name check prior of sending me the appointment letter for my interview? Doesn't everything needs to be ok prior of Interview?

The FBI does your namecheck, the USCIS Local District Office sends you the appointment letter. They have nothing to do with each other, except they supposedly co-operate with the namecheck...

Meaning, just because you got your interview letter it does not mean the journey is almost done.

If I were you, I would send that i-131 back to Chicago... just to be on the safe side. Like the saying goes "It is better safe, than sorry".

Sorry if I burst your bubble :p

Well that is wrong, They should not send interviews to people if they are not cleared to be interviewed. That is that wrong, but lets hope for the best and see what happens. Thanks.

They are "cleared" for interview as far as USCIS goes (no more required evidence or such). But as far as FBI (and the overall Department of Homeland Security goes) you need to have your namecheck cleared before they issue you a green card. :p

This is a bad process - why should they call for the the interview if they are not ready to issue you are GC. Do you think I can call USCIS and confirm that we are clear for take off. ??? Any one has any input on this?

Thanks,.

If you call the Misinformation Hot Line... you will probably go nowhere. The only way to know is to actually go to the District Office.

And yes, we all know the process with the name check is messed up.

Let's say I am a terrorist and come here to do something bad. They will let me travel (AP) and allow me to work (EAD) and to drive (DL and SSN) way before they find (through name check) who I am... for months or years... :p Makes no sense...

I agree with you, althought everytime I call USCIS I ask to be transfered over to the immigration officer - the front line don't have a clue what is going on. Do you guys think that the immigration officer would be able to to check if the Name Background went through?
