I was adopted by a US citizen through the US embassy in my birth country. I then went to America to live until my deportation in 2004. I lived in the US for about 28 years. My father applied for my citizenship when I was 16 years old, but for whatever reason there was no response from the INS. I was convicted of several crimes when I turned 19. Eventually I was deported. I am wondering if there would be any chance of claiming US citizenship? Also, I know the Child Citizenship Act of 2000 was not made retroactive so it does not apply to children over the age of 18 at the date of enactment, and the FACE act has expired - so does anyone know of any pending legislation that would make those in my situation a US citizen? Any info would be great!
