Anyone know the high level overview of adjudication process for N-400 applications? It will be helpful in understanding the various stages.

So the lockbox is just a routing mechanism and the actual evaluation of the immigration records (A file) along with N-400 application happens at the district office?

Is there a pre adjudication phase for N-400 applications? Where is that done? At the service center?

If it matters, GC was through employment based and the N-400 application is based on 5 year rule.

To kick it off, here's what I found: www.uscis.gov/files/article/n-400-spet-15-08-faqs.pdf

Adjudicator’s Field Manual - 72.2 Examination Preparation

In trying to figure out if any additional evidence sent along with N-400 helps or speeds up the process or it has no effect at all? Scenario is got couple traffic tickets, have the proof of payment, clean driving history in hand. Should one send copied along with N-400? I have read and mostly it's being recommended NOT to send any additional docs except what's asked in the USCIS checklist.

Got it RealCanadian! I will continue to uncover the mysteries of N-400 adjudication so it will be insightful for us all!
