All,

Background:

My priority date is curent (finally). I have an appointment in the next couple of days to complete Medical exams and also plan to move to a new address within the same city in a month or so.

Question:

On both the medical form and I-485 form there are places to document address of applicant. Will I have an issue (RFE or other delays) if there is difference in address in the medical exam document and I-485 document?

Thanks in advance for taking time to answer this question.

The doctor usually asks you to fill out the top part of the I-693, or at least will ask you for your address. So you can write (or provide) your new address if you know it. If you don't, you can ask the doc to keep your file open (unsealed) and see if he/she will agree to waiting for you to provide your new address once you know it, before they seal the form and give it to you to include with your I-485.

Otherwise, you can consider the following:
1- If you are filing your I-485 within the coming week, just write your old address on all the forms, and then update it with a phone call as soon as you move. Do not ask the post office to start forwarding your mail until you get the receipt notices, after which you can call USCIS to update your address or just do it online. Don't forget the AR-11 as well, which is separate although the online form lets you do that as well.
2- Just go ahead and write your current address on your medical form and your new address on your I-485 if that's the only option your circumstances allow. I don't know of any reason that this would be a problem. You can also ask the doctor to place a small sticky-note over the address line on your medical form with the words "Address as of 6/x/07, will move within 3 weeks". These are just personal suggestions, I don't know of any actual regulations in these matters, nor do I have evidence that you will have any problems if the address on your medical form is different than your I-485 mailing address.

--------------medical form and I-485 form should have SAME address if you are moving after a month it is better to write your Present address on all the forms. once you get I-485 filing reciept (may take 15-20 days after filing) you can update your address on Pending petition by calling 1800NCSC AND by writing letter to USCIS service center where your I-485 is pending. also file form AR11 but it does not change address on pending Petitions with USCIS.

Thanks in advance for taking time to answer this question.

Hello, I am in exactly same boat. I got my medical done with my current address and I sent the documents to my lawyer last friday. He is preparing my 485 which he will be filing on June 1st week. I am going to move to the new address (within the same apartment complex but to a townhome as i badly needed bigger space) and I asked my lawyer to put the new address in my I-485 form.
My question is, If they are really serious about the address in 485 form and medical, how about license copy, pay stub and all the other documents that you are submitting for 485. Legally, you should change the address in all of the important documents like license, within certain time. Won't the USCIS take those serious? Why only medical?
I don't mind giving my current address for 485 form as I am going to move only by july 10th to the new address. But My lawyer's suggestion is not to move after filing 485. Is it because it will delay 485? I have also heard that some people are saying that USCIS may mess up the whole thing etc.

Please advice as I still have time to change my address in 485 form.
BTW, I thought of concurrent. But I am worried if they find different address in 140 and 485. So, I have asked my lawyer to file 140 tomorrow with my current address(Tuesday 29th May) and file 485 on First week of june with my new address.
Thanks in advance

----------------------Why? money move next day after filing I-485
Is it because it will delay 485?
--------------------not correct, your move does not delay the I-485 process. change your address on I-485 when you get I-485 filing reciept, calll I-800NCSC provide your I-485 filing reciept # and A# AND also write letter to USCIS service center where I-485 is pending , write your Name, I-485 filing reciept #, A#, DOB and provide your past address and your New address and make a request to USCIS to change your address on Pending I-485 or other petitions, attach the copy of I-485 filing reciept and mail it to USCIS service center with certified return reciept and out side the envelpe write in big bold letters Attn: Request to Change the address on Pending I-485. also file form AR11 when you move but form AR11 does not change the address on pending petitions with USCIS
I have also heard that some people are saying that USCIS may mess up the whole thing etc.
-------------------if you dont do the above
Please advice as I still have time to change my address in 485 form.
BTW, I thought of concurrent. But I am worried if they find different address in 140 and 485.
-------------------I-140 is filed by employer and write your present address on I-140 and I-485 ( if I-140 filed it not problem still you can provide your present address on I-485
So, I have asked my lawyer to file 140 tomorrow with my current address(Tuesday 29th May)
and file 485 on First week of june with my new address.
------------------------New address only if you moved on the date of sending your I-485 if still on present address then write the Present address.
many are rushing to file on june 1 you can file any day BEFORE june 30.

Thanks in advance

------------------------------- make sure all forms have same address

---Thanks a lot Ginnu. You are really doing a good job.
I will stress my lawyer to use the current address in I-485 and we will send the change of address request letter once we moved.
You are correct. I was also worried about what if they do my background check during I485 and found that I haven't moved to the new address until after 1.5 months of filing I-485!!!!. Because, you have to tell/notify HomeLandSecurity within 10 days of moving to new address along with all the other notification like your insurance, license etc. I know many of my friends sent the notification after a month of moving. But why take risk particularly if you are filing I-485 and you know that they will go through your background check.
Last question: Will there be any difference in moving within the same apartment complex VS moving to different place more than 100 miles or so?
Thanks

---------------- if the address changes in same apartment complex or 1 mile or 100 mile it is address change and you need to update new address
Thanks
