I have AC21 question.

Can anyone explain me the impact of changing a job after 180 days and I140 approval if there would be a change in service center?

In other words, my application is pending at VSC, we would like to move to Chicago to be close to the family. What would be the impact on pending I485?

Gurus: Please give me your opinion/advice.

Thanks,

From what I understand, your case would likely proceed to completion at the center at which it was originally filed.

Given that you don't even have to notify the VSC about the change in job then they wouldn't know about the change until your case is adjucated (assuming they even check your current employment situation). If they do catch the change, then, as far as I know, this would simply result in an RFE which you could respond to at that time (again, all handled at the VSC).

As an aside, note that some people suggest that you do notify the VCS about your use of AC-21, especially if the original sponsor is likely to try to revoke the I-140, but afaik, even this shouldn't cause your case to be transferred.

The above said, there are exceptions and some cases do get transferred (and it seems like service centers are transferring more cases to local offices these days) so it's always possible that this could happen but nothing I've heard so far implies that changing location makes this more likely.
