Absence of Marriage Certificate

Members,

One of my sibiling was recently naturalized and was planning to apply GC for our parents. Here are some clarification we were looking from members here:

1) Our mother's name is not available in the US citizen's birth certificate. What alternate documents are needed to prove the relationship?

2) They do not have a marriage certificate, and getting such a document would be extremely difficult given that it occured nearly 3 decads ago.
Is there any alternate documetation USCIS accepts.

If there are links that I could read would help us out
