If you are not eligible for affirmative asylum your interview may be referred to immigration court. (For example someone apply asylum 1 year later of their last entry to the US)
If you are eligible game start
Interview about the prosecution
30-50questions
Ask legal required questions
15-20questions, say no to those questions
Case finished and Dismissal

5.5 hours in total with a super professional translator,
including:
- 1.30 hours of going through i589 to update information
- 3:30 hours of interview based on my case
- 0:30 min - closing/security-related questions including family

I was almost first in and last out that day

If all questions were properly answered and no tricky questions were asked then 1 hour is perfect. Asylum officer has quota every day to interview at least 2-3 cases. So if you started at 11:00am then I wouldn’t be surprised if they finished your interview around 12:00pm.

they will make a easy case easy pass before lunch time.

My interview was less than an hour long. I am scared if it's bad.
Mine took 3 hours with a 30-min break. Going over the application took more than my interview if that’s gonna give you some sort of relief. The officer had my old application from 2016 and I had to fix some stuff while we were going over. So application phase took 1.5 hours and the interview itself took 1 hour.

This looks like my interview I even had an interpreter, I was there 3.5 hours but the interview itself just 1 hour.

Mine is scheduled on May 30th Arlington Office .... Despite i am for real and my incidents are super genuine , this anxiety is killing me, fear of not remembering some details or dates during interview ..... or answering incorrectly out of innocence

He also asked me why this is taking so long. I was like wdym? He tried to explain me but i was like no i got your question but what takes so long? And then he was like nvm do not stress over it not that important. We even had laughs together at times. Besides, I got rear ended and had lumbar fusion back in 2023 and my back was hurting so bad. I, kindly, asked him to stand up and walk while answering his questions. He said yeah lol. Again. Be honest. And you know your own story more than anyone. Mistakes can happen. You can always go back and tell him/her i made a mistake there. Could you please fix it. Come back here after your interview :)
