Punjabi_Munda said:Damn that's a good one. I have been waiting for this for a long time. I hope it can benefit all of us. I know how long these kind of cases can drag, usually forever.... But in the end it will be good for our future fellow asylees. Its about time someone did something about this very key issue.
Bravo....
Thanks WindyWD for the info and we'll stay tuned for further updates...![]()

As an asylee, you don't need EAD anymore, so stop wasting your money on renewing your EAD. You are entitled to get an un-restricted SSN, ooops here I go with Acronym again (Social Security Number/card). That and your DL (Driving Liscence or state Id) should be enough to prove your employment eligibility.
RTD, (Refugee Travel Document) now that's a different story. I wish they increase the validity period of RTD. That would help.
kjonim32 said:that's true, but SS administration denied my req. for unrestricted SSC without valid EAD card. go figure.
sadasylee said:Good news, but, how can they win the case? By law (old or new) an asylee must wait on line for his I485 being granted, no matter how long it is.
Lazer, Your BIO done half years ago. Why haven't you got approval yet? any particular reason(s)?
windywd said:Yes, but...
Asylees who are approved have their adjustment backdated to one year prior to the date of approval, and thus are eligible to file for naturalization in four years. Refugees have their approval backdated to their date of admission as a refugee (usually the date of entry of U.S.), and thus may file for naturalization five years after that date.
Vle said:I think this lawsuit will be a waste of time and effort. Backdating is not an urgent issue for asylees, the important issue is to treat us equally as refugees when it comes to natuaralization. Just my humble opinion.
you right but that deal realy peace me offsamoel said:Exactly ...ND '99-'00 got nothing on the first deal and probably will get nothing out of this one too ..But anyway this is good news
