Lawyers generally suck.. they are greedy, charge fees excessively and do not do their jobs properly and accurately (similar characteristic like a loanshark: earn super interest for doing nothing but lending $$$). They give differing advice related to immigration matters (that make me wonder are they up to date with the laws, or are the laws too vague to interpret, or are they studying different laws while they were in school.. lol).
My advice would be:
- One of the misconceptions that happens all the time is when a person is granted asylum, he will say that his lawyer is awesome and recommend his lawyer to everyone. But, when you dig further by asking why he think that his lawyer is awesome or what kind of GREAT work or advice the lawyer provide, he will have a hard time answering the questions.
- Google the questions that need to be asked while u are looking for a lawyer to hire and ask those questions during initial FREE consultation.
- All lawyers are nice and helpful during the initial consultation. But, after u decide to hire one, you would have a hard time meeting and communicating with him and are left with advices from paralegal (which are often contradictory with that of lawyer). Btw, some paralegals have unprofessional and unethical behaviour. Be sure to meet one before hiring the lawyer.
- Treat your case just like your health. You are responsible for your health, so this is.
