7th Year Extension

I have one year left on my H1 with company A. Since company A applied for my green card about a year back, I am eligible for a 7th year extension.

I have a job offer from company B. Their attorney tells me that company B cannot file for a 7th year extension on my behalf, only company A can. Is this true? If so, what other options do I have?
 
Your attorney is 100% wrong.

You can extend your 7th year h1 through comp B provided company A must agree to maintain your LC. If they withdraw the LC you are gone.
