551 Stamp where do I get that

Hello all,

I am waiting for name check (Approved in interview) and currently am on H1b. I will be traveling outside the U.S on Nov2 and returning on Nov 25. In the rare event that I get the GC during that time it was suggested by member of this forum to get 551 stamp. (A very useful discussion and suggestion)

Can anyone please let me know where I can get the stamp ?

Can I get it at the Port of Entry ?

Ofcourse if you look from the thread above based on the bulletin message I may not even require to do so as I am still working for the same company and on H1b. So this is an extra measure.

Well - I-551 stamp is equal to Green Card. If you are waiting for the name check nobody is going to give you that stamp.
Other than that usually Immigration Officers that have the authority giveyou that stamp. Some members have done it through infopass.
 
Ndp125,
If your H-1B visa is still valid and your H-1B status is intact, you don't need an AP. Hopefully your I-485 will be approved soon.

For now I will travel on H1b and see what happens. Unless of course I get the green card..in this week or the next one which would be super cool!!!!
