Hi all,

I checked my case and my wife's and saw this today:

On August 9, 2004, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in ATLANTA, GA for processing. Our office in ATLANTA, GA will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 to receive information about local office processing times

What does this mean?

Why do cases get transferred to local offices?

Any problems? :(

Please help!!!!!!!!

Don't worry..you will get an interview notice and no big deal..only issue is you have to wait for 2 to 3 months more..

I did not get my FP notice, so do I now have to wait for the interview and then wait for FP call and then wait for approval? :(

This is confusing!

ATLDesi -- No Interview for you!!

From the message, I can positively say that you are not going to have an interview. It has been transferred for a written decision. That is all. However, if something triggers a personal appearance, ATL may summon you for such an interview. However, your transfer WAS NOT done for the sake of interview. If so, the message would be different.

Thanx machi ;) :)

I'm still confused. I have not done my fingerprint. So what happens to the FP with the transfer?

If you can explain I will express mikka nanri

கவலைப்படாதே மாமூ.. All that this means is that TSC wants ATL to carry forward the adjudication process. This means that ATL will issue the FP notice to you and then adjudicate without interview. Now, if for some reason, while in the process of adjudication, ATL wants to examine you, then that is the time they will issue an interview notice.

In other words, treat this transfer as Officer 1 moving your file to Officer 2 within TSC. The second guy can issue FP notice to you and after that may feel like interviewing you or just approve your petition. Likewise ATL will either just approve yours or invite you for a super virundhu. In that case, just கலாசீடு மாமூ.

A colleague told me that he knew a guy who called Atlanta office after his case was transferred in order to ask them to speed up FP.

Does anyone have the phone and fax# of the Atlanta USCIS office?

Thanks

I always use Unicode fonts. All you need is an OS and browser that supports Unicode fonts (Win2000, XP, IE 6, Netscape 7, etc.)

I have tried in vain to get Fax numbers for ATL. Their phone number gives an automated message asking you to call 800-375-5283.

Any snail-mails is blissfully ignored, as well :)

ATLDesi,

You definitly will get an interview notice..now, for FP you have following options:

(1) Wait for FP notice.

Or

(2) Go for early FP on any Saturday afternoon at Bufford Hwy with out FP notice..meet Supervisor and explain your situation..they will let you do it..I did it when I went for my EAD biometrics..

Or

(3) Wait for Interview notice and go for fp..show fp notice if you gets it otherwise show your interview notice and I-485 receipt..

Can I go the ADO in downtown ATL and ask for FP?

Do they accept walk-ins with such requests? If it is useless, I'd rather not waste a vacation day.

You can try. BTW, I believe Atlanta USCIS is on Infopass now so you may need to schedule an appointment.

My experience has been that ATL will schedule an FP notice only about a month before your interview. There is no advantage to doing it early. I waited almost two years for an interview and tried anything I could to speed it up. Nothing worked until I got the FP notice and did it early.

real canadian..did your online msg update after interview

or did it go directly to card ordered. I was wondering if after interview, the online msg changes to case approved etc. also, other than approval notice from local office, does service center also send an approval notice?
thank you for your time.

Online status is not updated for me after my I-131 got approved at ATL after the transfer from TSC, without interview. It still shows that mine is transferred to ATL for interview -- after 2 weeks of approval. I really doubt, these guys update the status at the local office or the interface is kaput or something.

thanks

I guess for I-485 is the same. the status doesn't change until the card is ordered.

No, the status for the I-485s is sitill "transferred to Atlanta". About a month after the interview, I received an I-181 notice from TSC and the receipt number on that was used to track the card.

Passport stamped after ATL interview

Finally approved. Thanks to all the members for their kind help and support. Best wishes for all those in queue.

Congratulations 485Alcatraz! Can you please post your interview experience. I have interview on Sep 14th with officer "C". My Nd is April19th, 2002. Thanks in advance.
