EAD Application date July 2nd - No Receipt as yet
I have applied on July 2nd. I have not received receipt as of 8/21/01.
My attorney sent me a note that came to her from NSC:

My attorney writes to me:
I\'ve checked my last bank statement and your checks have not been cashed. I
have read several emails discussing the NSC "frontlog" which is about 7
weeks. Below is a copy of the body of an email from NSC directed to, I
believe, the group contracted to receipt in 485\'s. There is nothing to be
alarmed about. As this letter indicates, AILA is trying to remedy the
frontlog problem. However, your case should be going through any day now as
it has been nearly seven weeks.
I\'ll contact you the moment we receive an INS receipt.

Email from NSC to the mail handling firm:
RE: I485 EB Frontlog 7 weeks: What Can We Do??
Our AILA customers have been inquiring as to why it\'s taking
approximately 6 to 7 weeks to receive a receipt notice on I485
Employment Based Adjustment of Status applications.
The day at a glance for 8-13-01 shows that we are assembling I485 EBs
received by mail 7-27-01 and data entering cases with a mail date of
6/28/01, which is approximately 7 weeks from date of receipt by mail.
These applicants are almost always represented by attorneys, most of
whom are AILA (American Immigration Law Association) members and they
can generate a great deal of interest.
Further, these I485 Employment Based applicants cannot work or travel
unless their I485s are filed (ie they need the receipt notice). Many
applicants travel frequently for business and work, so they need the
I797 receipt for the I485 to obtain advance parole and work
authorization.
Can find out why the upfront processing of these applications is
taking so long and determine whether this can be improved?
