485 -- Firstname is shortened

Hi

In my 485 application receipt my first name is not listing fully. MY EAd is also has the same name.DMV is not accepting the EAD card.instead of 16 letters in my first name it shows only first 6 lettters.

How can I change the first name in my 485 application.My 131 is also pending.

As I understand it, if the first name is very long especially with long middle name and last name, the character is very long for the computer system to fit that and the first name is the one who gets affected because of that. I do not know if you can call or do anything to fix that. Try with calling customor service or send a letter to USCIS explaining that.

If lawyer filed your I-485 then check the copy of your I-485 form (lawyer office has the copy). Lawyer office may have written your name short on form I-485, form I-765 and on form I-131.

If I get my GC or AP with that name then that will be an issue. Since the name is different from the name in passport.
