Hello all,
I will be filing 485 since date has moved. Congrats to all for whom this
wait is over.

I have BC from local Municipal corporation issued in 2000 (though DOB 1974).
The BC is in Hindi, though I got translation done in US.
Also, I do have a notarized translation from India (also taken in 2000) in English.

Will this late issue of BC will create problem. ?
To avoid any issues:

should I submit following?
1 copy of Hindi BC
2. Translation done in US
3 Notarised translation done in India.

If anything else I need to submit please suggest?
I will really appreciate any pointers.

Thanks in advance
nano

I am in a similar situation. I have to get this for my wife. On the affidavit from parents, what name should be mentioned: maiden name or the married name as on the newer passport?

Birth Certificate Alternative

Hi Experts,

My birth was never registered when i was born in 1971. The problem here is i was born in Bijapur where we have no connections. My grand parents lived in Bijapur for 2 yrs in 1971/72. I have got 2 affidavits done by my parents. But the attorney requested me to get a Non Availability Certificate which the officials in Bijapur refuse to give. They say that they need proof of address at the time of birth even for Non Availability Certificate. What do i do in this context. I have contacted yourmaninindia but i am not sure whether they would get it done

Also can i go ahead and file i485 in June with the affidavits & school certificates having my birth date?

Any advice would be of great help.

Regards,
Kaushik

Though my situation was not the same, it has been my experience that if you provide a reasonable explanation, USCIS is very generous.

In my case, my name was registered with a "family name" as the last name (on the birth certificate). Subsequently in India, on my Xth standard certificate, my family name got dropped and my father's name became the last name. That's how its been since. I had to reconcile with this during my I-485 petition. I just wrote a letter saying that this was purely cultural within India and given the fact I moved between states in India and the inconsistency in the naming conventions, this led to the issue. Also I swore that the name on the BC was indeed mine. I never had an RFE or anything on it and my 485 got approved recently.
