221g administrative processing in Ottawa, need passport before visa, how long to get one back?

Hi,

I applied to B2 on Feb11 and got 221g admin processing yellow/blue + doc request (CV, duties). I need to do the GRE test, latest 4th of March and I need passport to identify (no other option). If I request passport from embassy (i'm in Montreal) how long usually they give it back to you? Then again I would have to send it back to them. Anyone done same thing?

If you go in person, they should be able to give it back to you there itself.

Just found out no need to have passport for my test, so good... Waiting for my visa 10 business days now... Upsetting.
