Salt Lake office is really slow.

Congrats to you Mogalgiddi. You had a smooth sailing and beaten the average timeline of 5 months.

Congrats to you Mogalgiddi & watertown.

My situation is little interesting. I got yellow letter 3 days after my wife got her yellow letter. She has received the interview update on 01/09/2014. I am still waiting for update on my status. I am not sure what to make of this delay.

Thanks hbudida and congrats watertown. The officer will go through your N400 application with you. Since I didn't had any traffic violation nor any IRS related issues, everything was "No" with the exception of "Yes" for serving in Army if needed. Questions are easy and just two days of reading is good enough. Officer will ask you to write what he says on one of the application sheet. Once that is done, he will approve it right away.

I have noticed that few candidates today had IRS issues and few had marriage issues along with crime. For them, the decision was on hold. No idea what that means.

So, keep it cool and your day will come soon too. All the Best.

Got an alert msg saying that a notice has been sent for Oath Ceremony mentioning date/time and place of Oath. Will update once again after seeing the actual notice.

Congrats mogalgiddi!!. Your DO was ultimately faster than my DO (San Antonio). I still remember you mentioning how fast my DO schedules interview and you were still waiting for a date for one. Now you will have an oath letter in couple days and I'm still waiting for one ( still in oath scheduling queue). :)

Hello Folks:

Finally my journey ended today by taking the oath. It's a different feeling and now I am a proud US citizen. The whole process of citizenship took just 4 months, which is strange. Anyways here are my updated timelines:

Also a quick question guys. Now being a US citizen, do I need to update anything at the social security level?

Another question is, my wife wants to continue on the green card. Will there be any issue when I renew her Green Card which is due this year?

Appreciate your replies folks.

Congrats Mogalgiddi, that was a very smooth application process.
Yes, you need to update your status with social security. Stop by your local SS office and you can get this done.
Your wife can continue on the green card if she so chooses.

It was warm morning today and the USCIS office is only 3 blocks away from my home. I and my wife strolled to the distric office at 8.19 AM for our interview. I handed in my interview letter and they called me first at 8.48 AM. I took a folder with my traffic tickets judgement, tax returns and all passports I used for last 10 years.
The officer asked me to give the driving license and green card only. He asked me 6 questions which were easy and asked me to write "California has the most people". He also confirmed some questions from the N-400 and congratulated me on approval of the case.
I came out of the interview at 8.59 AM. The whole process was 11 minutes. He didnt ask to see my passport, traffic violations, tax returns etc.
Thy oath will be in April or May as stated by the officer.
My wife's interview took longer coz the officer was chatting with her about non-interview issues.
The journey is over!

Congratulations watertown. Yesterday I got my Passport, it was expedite so took exactly 15 days hand to hand. With this my citizenship journey is over and I have to start another for my OCI status with my previous country.

2013 October N-400, Federal Plaza NYC

Hi all, glad to see this thread.
Please see my signature for timeline.

I asked the IO if I could wait to receive my oath letter and he advised "unfortunately we no longer give out oath letters after interviews at Federal Plaza". He said I will have to wait 3-4 weeks to receive it in the mail. Is this a new policy? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Yesterday March 17 my online status jumped from "Testing & Interview" to "Oath Ceremony". I received an email saying that i was scheduled for oath and that a letter was sent in this regard. Finally some good news after 6 weeks from the interview. Will update the Oath date when i receive the letter.
