2 TNs with different dates

My current TN is going to expire May 29, my employer has written me a letter stating I will stay employed from May 30 2008 to May 30 2009, and I am planning to go to a portal to renew this TN next week.
I also got into a residency program in a different state, my program will start in July 1st 2008 for 3 years. I am going to leave my current job by June 25, however I haven't informed the current employer yet. I will need a new TN for my upcoming employment in July. The residency program will give me a letter and say I will be employed by the them from July 1 2008 to July1 2009.
I need to get these 2 TNs done in one trip. I am taking these 2 letters to the portal, I need to get 2 TNs, one TN with my current employer, either for one year or just for this one month; one TN is for my upcoming residency starting July 1 for one year. Both Jobs are in the same field.
Are the above 2 letters sufficient to obtain these 2 TNs ?
Do I need to inform my current employer that I am leaving, and have them indicate in the letter that I will be employed from May 30 to June 25 only so the 2 TNs are not overlapping timewise? Is this going to be an issue for the custom officeer ?
Need advise !

Border does not usually give TN far in advance (more than 2-3 weeks). You will get the May 30 TN, but it is unlikely that they will issue you the July 1 one yet.

It does not matter if the 2 TNs overlap (in fact it is better that they do). I would absolutely not tell your current employer that you will only be there for a few weeks.

I have to go to the portal this weekend since my current TN ends May 29, and I am bringing the letter for my 2nd TN as well with me, any suggestions that will help them give me the 2nd TN (starting July 1st) this time ? I hate to go there again....

As I always suggest, in order to avoid the 'too early' syndrome at the border you need to do 2 things:

1. You TN letter should be dated, but should NOT have a starting dat (simply says hire for one year).

2. you should arrange a 'meeting' (it can even be by phone) with you new employer for the day you get your TN or the next. You can then honestly state to the officer that ytou are starting work 'today' or 'as soon as I get the TN'. It doesn't matter that you won't be on payroll or have an official starting dat until later. having a second TN and not using it is not a problem. NOT having a TN for each sponsor is what you want to avoid.
