I applied for two I140 (NIW and OR) in March/APril 05. My NIW case was approved in 10 days however OR is still pending. I had also applied for 485 concurrently with OR I 140, however, because it is still pending my lawyer advised me to apply for another 485 linked to approved NIW. In May, I recd FP for NIW case, and finshed that. No LUD changed after FP. Then on August 6th, I did FP for OR-linked 485. Now today Aug 9th, the msg on OR 485 changed to FP results recd and...etc..however, interestingly it says that results were recd on June 14. I belive these results are for NIW-linked FP because as I mentioned before, I did OR-linked FP on August 6th. How do I clarify this confusion to INS. Should one FP be valid for both cases or they require you to the FP twice. If the results of my NIW-linked 485 have been sent to OR file, will the processing on my NIW case not go further.
I will really appreciate your views.

------------------- lawyer wasted your money for filind second I-485.you could have sent approved NIW I-140 copy and request should have been to USCIS to approve pending I-485 on the base of NIW I-140 approval. still you can send them with I-485 filing reciept +NIW I-140 approval notice copy. for more Infi read:

---------- if your second I-485 has your A# on it then they will link the both
 
Ginnu: I had the same A# for both applications. So do you suggest sending mails to USCIS clarifying this confusion or they will lautomatically link both cases. Are there separate queues for EB2 (NIW) and EB1 for I 485 also.

It looks like you should be safe anyways having applied against both. The interesting part is that the A number is same?

if you really want things in roder right now, best would be to call the serivce center and see what they say or else just wait, in anycase you shouldn't be a loser and at worst they may come back and ask to withdraw one.

btw unbelievable you got the NIW is 10 days, was this VSC..which month..thanks

I filed in VSC around March/April. I tried calling USCIS, but did not help really. I will send them mail/FAX clarifying this issue. So for 2 I485 can they use FP of one case for the other. You think they will link the two cases? On a different note, is name chack process different from FP. When they say FP recd and case is resumed does it mean name chack is complete too. I will appreciate your views.

-----better send NIW I-140 approval copy so that the other I-485 have the copy of I-140 approval and they can approve the I-485. if you dont send they will link up with your A#,DOB they can find any info related to you but to make the officer job easy why dont you send NIW I-140 approval copy and I-485 so that they can attach I-140 approval to your I-485 that you filed earlier. send it by certified mail and out side the invelope write: request approve the I-485 with new Approved I-140 and alsowrite a cover letter with your pending I-485# your A#, DOB + attach the MEMO copy posed by me above
*** FYI NIW cases are normaly trasfred to local office

On a different note, is name chack process different from FP. When they say FP recd and case is resumed does it mean name chack is complete too.
