I am an F1 student in second of 2 years of my study, 5 months to graduation. I have realized I worked without extending the authorization for employement on my I20, with the same employer, continuing part-time into fall semester after summer, and consulted services at my school.
School tells me now that they will cancel my I20 and I will have to travel/reenter- which means clock restarts for my CPT or OPT options, and I may not get a job in the US before I legally maintain an F1 status for another 9 months, but this is not enough time before graduation, and H1 will not allow me to work before October, plus I have to get recruited.
What can I do? I have just traveled and reentered with the same I20, but have not worked since I first traveled, will that work? Can I talk to the school with an argument on this?
I am also willing to give up the money I received working beyond CPT during summer - can that a) be done, b) be used to help the school see I have done nothing wrong and was in good intention all the time?
