I want to take the TN to GC route.
I have 14 months left on my TN. I plan to renew for another 3 years by mail this December.
Is this a good time for my employer to start the PERM process now?
Pls correct me if I am wrong, my understanding is that PERM is petitioned by my employer and it should not affect my TN renewal next year.
I am thinking if I start now, I will have 4 years to work with, that may buy me a little bit more time for the PERM/GC process to run its course (assuming they grant me another 3 years when I renew my TN this December).
Again, I have 14 months left on my TN. Are there any downside to starting the PERM process now or should I wait for my next 3-year TN renewal to be approved first and then start the PERM process soon after?
