Hi Guys!

Somebody said me that It is necessary to have $10.000 per person in account bank.

How true is this?

Is it necessary so much money per person?

Thanks in advance!

And thanks E59th also :)

You can pass your interview and get the visa without having this amount in the bank or an asset to prove, but many dv winners have previously been asked to show a prove of support. This is to show that the applicant will not become a public charge when they eventually move to the U.S. The prove can be in the form of employment letter; an asset such as a business, a property or money in bank; or an affidavit of support from a permanent resident of the U.S.

It's not part of the original requirements for processing of the visa but you may be asked to show/produce one before a visa is granted. If you a lucky you may not be asked of it. Therefore, it's better to prepare for it. E59 is just trying to help you so that you don't get stuck somewhere during your interview.

It is part of applying for I-485...which is part of the DV lottery. They may or may not ask for the proof and may or may not deny you the GC if you haven't proof of funding.

It mostly depends on what chances the USCIS or embassy thinks you will have of making a living for your self and supporting your self.

Affidavit of support IS NOT required for I-485 under the Diversity Visa application. It could be required by the USCIS Officer as ammeck09 said.

Thanks!

I wonder If a house mortgage should be declared as part of Affidavit of support.

I think so...you need to write down, stocks, assetts, properties, but if you have a mortgage and let's say, zero down, it isn't something you can show as proof of funds since you don't own the home, but the mortgage lender does.

Ok, so If I didn't have $10K then I would need affidavit of a sponsor (relatives in USA) or job.

Yes...or have other ways to proof funding...

For a job you can also have a promiss from an employer that you get the job if you get your GC...but it has to be on a companies letterhead so the USCIS can check if the letter is original or not....it doesn't need to be notorized.

Legally the USCIS has everything covered so the can sue any one after the sponsored person is filing for certain claims after they obtained the GC and haven't worked for the 10 yrs stated....so it is a responsibility they take on when signing a sponsor form.

Nobody knows if they are going to sue or not since that is probably not something that comes on a forum and maybe in the past when jobs where easily to get, something that rarely happened...now the economy has changed.....
