1 Day difference between date stamped while entering U.S and date of departure from U.S- options?

Hi :

My parents entered the U.S on june-21-2009. At the port of entry the officer
told them that he was giving them 6 months visa. But he stamped the date
of December-20-2009. My parents also did not verify the date at that time due to travel tiredness etc.
We had booked the tickets for December-21-2009. Each date change on the
ticket involves 200$.
Since it is just 1 day i am wondering if there is a U.S consulate we can go to and get the date corrected. We are based in Los Angeles.

Thanks!

Vimpi,
It is actually 6 months. This is the that way officers have always done it that I know of. In their calculations, 6 months complete on the day before and the last day is not inclusive. Even if you see on your H1 approval letters, you will see the same trend. You should have booked the tickets for a few days earlier departure. Best option in my mind would be to chage the tickets as it is a matter of only 1 day. Extending I-94 for such a minor cause could be an issue.
