    325 days out of usa

Cushy job? Easy! That's easy Al Southner, do what dnbev1 did. Ask your wife to incorporate an S-corp company in US and become her employee. Then you can vacation as long as you like while being paid. At least till she kicks you out :) Man, why didn't I think of this before?

Pls..Question about the translation of foreign birth certificate

Agree with NIW06 I agree with NIW06. When a friend of mine wanted their birth certificates translated, he asked me to do so. I did exactly as described above by NIW06. He didn't have any problem with his 485 and is now about to apply for citizenship.

GC holder and Study Medical in India

As of now, my sons are least interested in medicine or any field for that matter. Can't blame them though. They are only two years old. It's just me planning for the future. But thanks for the detailed input though.:)

GC holder and Study Medical in India

Mr Vertigo, are you from India? I would guess not. Obviously, what I meant was if by 18 in India you don't know what branch to pursue and are not prepared for respective entrance exams, you are in all probability not going to get in the branch. Knowing at later stage that you want to be in...

GC holder and Study Medical in India

I see your point. I would like to disagree here. In India children know at very early age what they want to do. Two years before entrace exams, they are already ready for it. And this is true for any branch, may it be engineering or medicine. If you don't know at age 18 what to do in life...

Quick Question: your GC picture vs. EAD picture

For our AP, we had gone to Atlanta. So the picture was one they took. But for our GC we had gone to our local office. Just before going there we went to local Walgreens and took pictures and submitted. Those are the ones on our GC. But this was more than 4 years ago. None of this might be...

Do I need to keep my plastic GC with me?

Well, I was in bathroom one time and my wife knocked and asked where my green card was. Apparently some friends who had come over for dinner wanted to see what it looked like.

GC holder and Study Medical in India

I am from Mumbai so my statements will reflect what I have observed in Mumbai and may not be true for medical colleges elsewhere in India. Also, I am now in US for 13 years so some things may have changed. Advantages: Mumbai has 5 teaching public hospitals affiliated to Bombay...

GC holder and Study Medical in India

In India, one joins medical school after 12th grade whereas in US, (with some exceptions) one joins medical school only after 4 year college. Why should someone spend few 100 thousand dollars and 4 years studying something unrelated when alternatives are available? Also issue of untrue...

GC holder and Study Medical in India

I apologize for going off-topic here. But are there any threads where I could see pros & cons of doing medicine in India and returning to US? My kids are US citizens and I was wondering if it would be smarter to get them started early in medicine in India rather than have them spend 4 years...

Pros and cons claiming visiting parents as dependants

I have claimed my parents as dependents whenever appropriate. I did not have any problem getting GC. I have friends whose parents visit US regularly and they claim them as dependents when eligible. I didn't see them having problem either. In fact I don't think there is even remote connection...

    Surrender!!!

cafeconleche, Are you hindi or marathi speaking? Patta (rhymes with but-ta with t pronounced slightly differently) is a common hindi or marathi term for any kind of card. I have heard people use terms hirva patta (marathi) or hara patta (hindi) for green card. Hirva or Hara of course means...

Claiming as Dependents on Tax return

Concerned4us, Thanks for making everyone aware of morality and law. It was an eye opener. And also thanks for making us aware that many H1Bs are immorals and frauds who illegally claim their non-resident parents on their tax returns. Who knew. Frankly, I am insulted by your comments and...
