This shouldn’t be an issue for your N400 application, especially you didn't receive any ticket/citation etc.. On the personal side, your insurance will deal with it so just relax on the citizenship matter
To be on the safer side, as soon as you have the US passport, apply for CIO card, that will give you parity with NRIfor most cases ( except voting, standing in election etc...)
PP Received Today updated time line
btw, the states dept. online system doen't show any record of my PP application so if you applied for PP and no ststus on the online system, its ok...

True Regular employee at a consulate is not a Diplomat he/she just works there and the above mentioned provision is not applicable in their cases ( that is the best of my knowledge)
Not necessarily, if some one goes beyond their call of duty and provide you a better service, it is your right and appropriate to express thanks and gratitude…
Practically speaking, this is not an issue for the N-400 application and IRS don’t bother about it as they are interested in the Income tax. What I have seen, is if you changed the employer it is unlikely that the old employer will find about it and ask you to pay the taxes. You may move forward...
I know some people have no clue but why do they call themselves HR people if they don’t know these rules.
I know of my fried’s wife’s case where that company wasn’t withholding and paying both SS and Medicare tax for 5 to 6 years and they found out the error later. She was lucky that company...
The IO didn't ask anything I have mentioned two tickets in the application and also mentioned that "fines paid". He just looked at it and said traffic tickets are not a problem, didn't ask enything but written on the application with his red ink pen "No arrest" , also made some comments on...
Hi Bobsmyth,
Same experience for my friend and neighbour, there were driving back from Canada and handed 5 US passports (whoe family) to the CPB and the officer asked what is their citizenship :) I think it is a standard question they just kinda ask everyone; like when you call telephone...
There was a very similar case mentioned here couple of month ago ( red light, cop stoped etc...) or that was you?.
I also didn't understand " I was arrested for a red light camera violation" you were arrested or you just got a ticket/citation ? then you didn't pay the fime or went to...
My understanding is there is no way to opt out from paying SS tax. you are liable for FICA (Social Security and Medicare) taxes while you are on H1-B status.
From My interview experience ( Newark) , I don't think it is a problem as long as it is speeding/moving violation tec. the IO interviewed me told speeding tickets are not a issue.
I guess first the OP needs a real accountant , come on, any one who qualified to prepare and file the tax return knows you have to pay these taxes. are you self-employed ?
I know some H1 folks thought they don't need to file these tax and eventually ented up paying for the last 5 to 6...
You may want to get the tax transcripts if any, just because you didn’t sign a tax return doesn’t mean your spouse didn’t file a joint return. One can file an electronic return without any actual signature
Interview experience; 1/12 - Newark
Hi all,
just want to share my interview experience on 1/12. My appointment was at 10:20 and made it there at 9:30. 5 minutes wait outside the building wasn’t fun, it was very cold and reached 15th floor and gave the letter at window no 1 around 9:45 or...
Don’t you have to send the Jury duty selection cards back in your state ?. In most states you need to send a piece of that card back where you check a box that say something similar to “not a US citizen” along with other options like you are convicted etc.. so you are not eligible be serve...
I don’t think it is big deal…. . The TOR stamp on the passport is by the Indian Customs ( NOT by the immigration) It is a mechanism to bring goods (usually used) from overseas with little or no duty for personal use as you are ‘planning’ to live in India and the goods are for your personal...
