    Visa Bulletin For August 2015

Granted that there may be some back log etc., but not to have any new case? Have you seen that with Asia before? I understood that even if Iran was to go to maximum allowed, there would still be some visas for RoA. It's hard to believe that 7,650 cases have generated enough visas to fill up Asia...

    Visa Bulletin For August 2015

Hard to believe that Asia will not have any interviews for September. I don't think that has ever happened before!. This is a pretty big region and most people expected it to comfortably reach 10,000 and have a big jump in the final month once Nepal was limited, so not have even 1 more case is...

The "been there done that" thread: life in the US after DV

If she is a new immigrant, she can stay out for up to 12 months (careful not to over do it). They do understand that you need to sort your stuff out. Even then you can come back, stay a while, and either apply for a White Passport,( I131) which gives you up to 2 years permit to be absent or...

Finding a job in the USA

My I recommend that if you ever become an employer, always throw away half of the resumes unread. That way you never employ unlucky people. :p

    DV 2015 Winners Meet Here

It shouldn't cause you any issues. You have been issued with the visa already, and I take it the Iranian Government will let you keep the old passport after it has been cancelled, so that should be fine. This is not uncommon. The immigration officer can not refuse you entry as the visa is still...

DV lottery family visa.. i dont want to go

Sorry, force of habit. As an attorney I always advise my clients as to what is best for them, not considering other people may lose their chance.

DV lottery family visa.. i dont want to go

Even if you went through the process and got your visa, no one can force you to travel to US and activate the GC, it then runs out after 6 months. So if your father has filled you in as going with them and you feel you need to attend the interview, you can still back out later. This may be a...

Finding a job in the USA

Getting a job in the US, a with many other countries, is very dependent on your qualifications and industry. Someone working as a high skilled immigrant (doctors, engineers etc.) would have a different experience than lower skilled people, as you would expect. You also need to pick the city and...

Bill to scrap the diversity lottery

I think there is a misunderstanding here. The skilled workers usually come under the H1 visa which is not a Green Card, they also usually have to have a job offer. The other ways are usually for people with PhD or "highly skilled" migrants, not for college degree graduates. And by the way, this...

Bill to scrap the diversity lottery

I personally think the DV is a good idea, and US does have other types of visas, some based on qualification, others based on jobs etc. so it's not as if they are limiting the other methods in favour of this, and the reasons for setting up the DV programme in the first place are still valid. But...

How many times did you enter?

My wife applied once in 2010 and we got it. I agreed to it initially as I thought we never win, and it will keep the peace in the house. I had just started a new job and we had a baby, so immigration was not on my horizon, so when it came up, I was caught out. I'm glad we did it though.

    Earthquake in Nepal

Be interesting to see how "normal" the operation will be given the chaos around them. But good to hear they are trying.

    Earthquake in Nepal

Even if the building is unaffected, and of course at the moment it is being used as temporary shelter and staging ground, the problem is not just having somewhere to have the interview. It is the ability of people to come to the interview in the first place, having staff that have the time to do...

    DV 2015 Winners Meet Here

No, nothing permanent. :) Thanks. I think you should ask this question directly from the embassy or other Iranians in the same boat who have gone through it. I'm sure you ae not the only one in that situation. Good luck.

    DV 2015 Winners Meet Here

Congratulations Laleh. Very well done. Hopefully your husband will clear soon. Have a wonderful life and I trust you be happy here. 21 days is pretty quick for Iran, do you know from your Iranian Forum if the clearance rate is better than last year or not? It may impact the ROA. Best wishes Martin

You are quite correct Simon.I was asked or my discharge papers since they knew that I had served in the British Army, simply to check that it was not a dishonorable discharge as a lot of offences don' make it to the civilian records. e.g. being cashiered out for dishonesty or cowardice. I...
