The university career center has told me that most employers seek citizens or perm residents for employment - so they refuse to change my work authorization status so I can connect with employers.. However since it is illegal to discriminate when hiring, how can I handle this?
Is it illegal to...
Asylum office requested that I confirm I am no longer in student status. I guess this means that they will refer my case to immigration court instead of approving it. I am so scared. I feel an anxiety attack coming, and can't breathe :(
Perhaps some people who have been on here longer would know if there are many (any?) approvals after a NOID...
My NOID had numerous omissions and mistakes on their part and we sent a strong rebuttal explaining every 'objection' they had. Any idea if I have any chance? Or is it just moot after...
I received a NOID and sent a rebuttal with my attorney. The NOID included some mistakes on evidence as well as documented country conditions and omissions etc. Although the rebuttal addressed all of them, I am of course very distressed and worried. I am almost out of status but what if the AO...
Has anyone previously subject to 212(e) - 2 year home residency requirement via J-1 visa received asylum +GC? I just want to make sure I am eligible for a GC if I get asylum. Any experience is helpful, thanks.
I notice that a lot of jobs list they require perm residency/citizenship. Is this only because they don't want to fund/support a visa or are these really strict requirements. Are people with EAC's able to land some of these jobs?
Is there anyone that applied for a persecution waiver for 212(e) and got rejection/approval? Did you apply with or without a lawyer? I am not able to afford a lawyer without taking out loans, but I really fear returning.
If you have any experience at all, please share. I am also former...
Anyone succeed with a persecution waiver without a lawyer?
I really need an approval but cannot afford a lawyer. Any recommendations?
Also a former Fulbright.
Anyone interview in the Rosedale office in the past 3 months? How long did it take to get a result after your interview?
I interviewed Oct 8th and have no information about when I will get a response.
I can't help but notice that there are very few denials each month at the asylum office. I wonder what that implies.
This is an example from NYAO but they all seem similar. In one month;
637 cases completed, 9 denials, 121 approvals, rest referred to immigration court.
Clearly most...
Is there anyone like me that was interviewed in NY in October?
They told me to come pick up my decision in 2 weeks, then sent me home without telling me anything on the day they were supposed to deliver a decision.
The AO told me to pick up my decision on a particular day and time. I travelled there and they told me: didn't anyone call you? Someone should have called you, there is no decision on your case. There is no information about when there will be a decision. It will be mailed to you.
