Hi
I am preparing my application but seem to be stuck at this question about time outside the US.
I came to US about Nov 2011, changed status (Adjustment of Status) and received by green card April 2012. So that's a timeline of about 3.5 years until present. I'm eligible for citizenship now...
That sounds like a standard letter to me, so it's possible that they have mailed your card.
It's actually difficult for us to comprehend which stage of the GC process you are in. Have you had interview? Was there any RFE? So before you post a question, please update the your signature with...
EAD & AP combo card, and the GC both have the picture taken during fingerprinting and a fingerprint. If you didn't have any fingerprinting done, there must be a mistake somewhere. By now, you should have received a fingerprinting appointment. Perhaps get an InfoPass appointment and have a word...
You can explain the surgery issue as the 'purpose' of the trip. You can say it will take longer than a year for them to recover (which is also probably true), and if one of them is having surgery the other parent will be there as a carer. To your knowledge, this is the truthful scenario/reason...
Got my GC today
As the title says, got my GC today. It's nice! I love the holographic pictures of 44 presidents in the back!! Anybody else noticed that? ;)
@sweet15
Jackolantern is right. I have also been advised to get it changed from the SSA. I received my GC today, and I'll head to the SS office Monday or Tuesday to notify them of the change. Better get it done, I think, than to wait.
I think (not sure) they will issue a new SS card without the...
On 23rd April, you posted (October 2011 filers thread http://forums.immigration.com/showthread.php?545565-October-2011-Filers/page28&p=2573669&highlight=#post2573669) that you just received your GC. You mentioned that you had to attend your GC interview by yourself since your husband was in...
@sweet15
congratulations!! Enjoy the GC years until you become a USC!
I myself am waiting to receive the card in hand. Special thanks to you for starting this thread! :)
Answers to your 5 questions
Hi Chris,
Here are the answers to your 5 questions:
1) I want to make sure the following 5 documents should be filed "first,"
Ans: You are correct. These are the 5 documents you should file first.
2) I wonder if the following two documents [I-693 & I-131] "can"...
If it's a straightforward case, why would you even go to a lawyer? There's plenty of information online, and if you can read and understand instructions, it's not as daunting as you might expect. I have recently gone through the process, and the system seemed pretty straightforward to me. Follow...
GC Interview - Approved
Had my GC interview today: Approved! Also got online status update saying card production has been ordered.
Looks like the thread has gone quiet, and I'm probably the last one among Dec 2011 filers.
Interview Description:
The interview was scheduled for 1:30PM...
Congrats, @Cliff2 on getting your card! Must be a great feeling and a big relief. :o)
And congrats @shyguy1 for an easy interview! Have fun in Europe! I just got back from UK...can't wait to visit Europe again soon (after receiving my GC, of course)!
Congrats Cliff2 & skoja
I'm checking in after a looooong time.
Congrats Cliff2 and skoja for your approval! :o)
No word on my interview yet! It's taking a bit long, but I have been told by some that this could be because neither I nor my wife have been living in the US (or, in case of my...
@skoja
I agree with Cliff, be positive. I get the feeling since she said that your case won't be postponed, it probably means it's been approved already, they just had to go through the formalities of getting correct paperwork (ie. your corrected I-693), and making you answer all the Yes/No...
As Jackolantern said, if your wife is a US citizen (not permanent resident/green card holder), then in Form I-485, Part 2 (Application Type), you should select answer (a).
Your wife will also need to file Form I-130 along with relevant supporting documents.
For Form I-485, you'll have to...
