Does anyone have any thoughts towards the Family Preference categories? Why is the 1st category suddenly behind the 2nd category? My PD is June 2002...does anyone see any hope for us in 07 since just a few months ago the current date was april 2001?
I'd like to hear anybody's observations and results and methods used for H-1b stamping at the Vancouver consulate as I am thinking of doing TCN processing there.
Hey there! did you say you got visa stamping in St Louis? Like an entry visa? howd you do that??? I didnt know you could get visa stamping inside the US.
Thanks, I'll try to find that thread.
I currently have a BSEE, and I've been working for the same employer (a nationwide major construction company )for 5 years. I also am getting a 3 year extension based on an approved I-140.
What worries me is being asked to go back to Jordan, as in I...
If you have an approved I-797 for H-1, with I-94 card and currently residing in the US, can you cross into Canada and obtain at the US consulate there a multiple reentry permit? (i.e. 3rd country consular process). Currently wait times in home country are very long (2 months).
I just dropped my state rep. an email asking for her support. It's a small step, but an important one. I think the more of us who take the time to write emails and letters will result in larger impacts.
www.house.gov if you want to look up your state rep, just enter the zip code and it...
I'll have my H-1b for my extension for 3 years based on I-140 approval. I'll get it approved here in the US, but can I goto Canada and get a entry permit there, or would I have to return to my home country of Jordan?
Not right now, Jordan probably takes a number of weeks to get my H-1b, its not really option to return there for several weeks.
I was on a F-1 Visa from 1996-2000. Then in 2001 switched to H-1b, it's been renewed once and it's about to be renewed again on the basis of my I-140 was approved...
I am applying for my H-1B 3 year extension.
I dont have a reentry permit right now for the US.
How hard is it to goto the Seattle Canadian Consulate and obtain a canadian entry/exit visa and then to goto the Vancouver US consulate, and obtain a US entry visa?
So essentially, they just lost 14 months in terms of visa availability?
I had high hopes of being current within a 16 months (June 2002 PD for 1A) and now that is out the door???
In looking back to around September of last year, the PD for Family 1A category has advanced 1 week, from 04/15/01 to 04/22/01.
That's a little ridiculous. Has anyone heard any rumours or had any updates on when there will be a significant jump in PD?
We should write Congress on this...
I have a similar situation:
Citizen of Jordan, Entered US in 1999 last, on an F-1 that has long since expired.
Currently on my 2nd 3 year H-1b, which expires in Nov. 06.
My I-140 was filed in February 06. I expect approval within 30 days.

I entered the US last in 99 on a student entry visa which has since expired.
In 2000 I switched to an H-1b visa.
My 6 year time expires this November.
My employer filed for my I-140 this year and I expect to be approved in the next 2-3 weeks.
Afterwards my employer will file for my H-1B 3...
