santa4u, I think senator's office contacted the USCIS. They verified from the USCIS that the namecheck was completed. They were quite prompt in finding out the status .I dont think you need to tell them to contact the FBI, they will do it if required.

Arydk, You need to check the visa bulletins to find out when you can file the I-485. When your PD becomes current you will become eligible. I think you can do the medicals beforehand. You need to double-check on that one. I would recommend doing the medical as soon as you come to know your PD...

Hi Santa4u I first called them and told them the problem. They asked me to write a letter describing the problem. I also sent them copies of all the documents (I-140, I-485). Then I followed up with them every 1-2 weeks. I would recommend you first call them, and then write to them.

Thanks guys I inquired about the namecheck through congressman's office. They said it was completed, and the approval should come soon. I did not make any inquiry directly with TSC. Fortunately my FP was still valid (FP:10/13/05), so it all worked out!

I dont think there is anything to worry buddy. I saw a lot of people on this forum who got fast approvals with no LUD's on their cases, even after FP. In my experience, LUD's are misleading, and totally unpredictable. No LUD's doesn't mean they are not working on your case!

Thanks Nikka Singh. It looks like LUD's are hard to interpret. Each security or background check entry should have shown up as an LUD, but your experience seems to suggest otherwise. Some people seem to get tons of LUD's, others get very few ! I guess only God knows why this difference *$@?

I heard there is "expiration date" for each check. They keep doing it again and again until your priority date becomes current and un-expired security check match up at the right time !

kppr12, I think the name check and all other security checks are requested/conducted many times. Probably every 9-10 months. Maybe the name check pending date you got is for the 2nd or 3rd request made to FBI.
