AP Travel Delays Name Check? Need Input!

Having been reading this forum for so long and being a name check delay victim, I highly suspect that using AP travelling abroad is the cause of many name check delays. I have used AP 3 times for business travels, once upon a time I thought I could get approval very soon. Now I believe every time I left the country, they would re-initialize name check. Here I am, stuck in NC for more than 2 1/2 years. I know a family based case, when the applicants got interview, they were told they would receive GC in the mail. Unfortunately they also went abroad and came back 2 weeks before the interview. So 5 months passing by, nothing happened, then they got responses to their inquiries saying "pending name check".

Using AP causes delay? If it really is the case, people should think about before they intend to use their APs? Any thoughts?
 
no relation at all. I haven't used AP and I am stuck in NC for more than 2 years. Neither were many people I know who are stuck in NC.

Your concern may not necessarily be false. I have heard other people say that using AP (and also EAD) can re-initiate security checks, and delay the I-485 approval. Of course, these are rumors, and no one seems to know for sure. It says on the AP that it should be used only under extraordinary circumstances, and it definately does not subsitute for a visa. May be they think we avoided the visa so they must check us again upon re-entry??

Have you posted this question any where else in this forum? What responses did you get?

I never had AP (instead I had my H-1 visa and did revalidate it in USA), and my spouse had AP and several EADs, we both were stuck in NC for same time (untill I started bothering congressman), having same country of birth, same last name...
