H1Babu,
Don't know if you got an answer to your question already, but all I did (although iin the end I never ended up using it) was have my Insurance company write a letter to the Consulate of the country that you are going to..apparently they do this all the time (that's what they said ) and...
Hi Tor,
Ok so I had my Congressman, Jim McGovern's office (I live in MA, by the way he is very pro immigration reform) get involved. They were very nice and very friendly and I actually spoke to the district director who agreed to request that INS get their act together. I just sent him all...
Tor:
I didn't realize that it was an old post, I didn't find this forum until recently. Thank you for all the information you posted. How are you able to get that by the way? I have been trying to get a number to call and complain, seeing as it is completely interfering with me being able to...
Hello
I'm very intersted in sending the letter, but am I missing something? I thought only Nebraska USCIS issued RTD's to Asylees and therefore sending it to each city would not make a difference? in any case I will send it. It's the most frustrating thing. Right now I'm in a position where...
thanks for the info. Hopefully I will not have a problem getting my german work permit/residence permit.. and no problems on the US side either...will see. Thanks.
I don't think that you have to come back every six months. This is based on my conversations with a couple of immigration officers who told me that as long as I come back within the time that my RTD is valid my I485 application would not be compromised. However, I wonder what the immigrations...
Maybe because the date that I last arrived in the US isn't the date I put on my I485? I don't know why, i guess when I was asked for the I94 number etc I also put the date that I got it the only one I have. Anyways, really can't do anything about it right now..so I'll just wait and see. Thanks
Annaraka,
Thanks for the response. Well it's an american company getting my residence permit and I think it's supposed to be for 5 years? I'm not 100% sure, but that was I think what I was told. I'm only planning on being their for 2 years or 2 1/2 max. But we shall see.. then if you are an...
Annaraka,
I'm confused. If you have a GC, then why did you use an RTD? If you don't have a national passport, how hard/easy was it to get your residence permit in Holland? My situation is that I have an RTD and was told by the German Embassy in Boston that although I will be able to travel...
Hi Minsk,
That makes me feel better..although since I will be traveling back and forth quite often I'm hoping I won't have a problem. The only other issue is that my I485 application now has the old date of entry (which is the only I94 I had when i first entered the country). Would that...
wantmygcnow,
Thanks for the info!! My initial plan was to come back in May (a month before it expires) then apply for expedited RTD (which I did last time and got within two weeks) and leave and have it sent to Germany (where I will be working). The problem with that was that I wouldn't...
Am I dumb then? I just came back from Germany went to the "non citizen" line in Boston, didn't even wait for more than 2 minutes, the officer asked me if I had a passport (obviously said no)and what the purpose of my visit was and I told him and he stamped my RTD and I was on my way. Soon after...
I see. Of course I'm adjusting to be a permanent resident. And I am working in the US but will be working for an American company for a couple of years in Germany.. I guess I was dumb enough to accept the assignment without having really thought about the renewal of RTD (which has to be done...
Hi,
where does it say that you have to submit the original RTD when you renew? I am in the same boat? Mine will expire end of May but I have to travel in January and return to renew..but if I submit my RTD for renewal then I will not be able to travel until I get it, in which case (since I...
hi,
I was just reading your advice and I have one question.. I am basically in the same situation (asylee adjusting status) but will be working in Germany for a couple of years for an American company during which time I will be coming back and forth to the US. I was assured by an immigration...
