Of course you should claim them as dependents... if they qualify
I was on H1 when my parents first visited. I claimed them as dependents while filing taxes. I have many friends who are on various statuses (H1, GC, USC) and everyone claims their parents as dependents. There is no reason or...
letsee,
I recently applied for PIO cards for my twin boys by mail. I submitted the following.
1. Notarized copy of first page of my passport.
2. Notarized copy of first page of my wife's passport.
3. Notarized copy of my child's birth certificate.
4. Notarized copy of first page of my...
I think you can...
My impression was that you are allowed to have more than one H1-B visas simultaneously. One can work for two employers on two visas at the same time. I don't remember now where I got that information but I believe it to be true. But I am no expert. I apologize in advance if...
Don't carry it... Don't intend to...
I have never carried my GC except when travelling abroad. I also don't intend to carry it on my person unless I hear of a specific case of person getting in trouble because of not having GC on person.:)
Just in case my language was confusing! When I said 1st page of passport, I meant inside cover and page 1 together.
vrb2007,
I am curious as to why you prefer PIO to OCI considering you are a US citizen.
Also, the form you are downloading says fees is $155. This appears to be an old...
dandan123,
Saving $65 was just a joke (please note the smiley). OCI was not an option for us. Myself and my wife, both are Indian citizens and chidren had no other option but PIO. But if one was was a US citizen, I would have definitely opted for OCI.
Cheers... :)
Answer to why PIO, why not OCI
dude4mrestonva,
See the following is statement from cgihouston.org
[Minors (below 18 years) whose both parents are Indian citizens are not eligible for registration as Overseas Citizens of India. They are, however, eligible to apply for PIO Card]
Both, I...

3. Notarized copy of my child's birth certificate.
4. Notarized copy of first...
No problems while returning
I just wanted to let everyone know end of the story.
The immigration officer (who had turned nasty on us during entry) had mentioned that I would have problem again while leaving because others too would want to see the old passport. But no such thing happened. No...
I and my wife are green card holders and children are US citizens.
My father passed away recently and my mother has no one to live with in India. I want to bring her to US for as much time as possible. She has 10 year visitor visa valid till 2010. She last came to US in year 2000 and stayed...
Myself and my wife are green card holders. Our Indian passports expired in 2005 and we renewed them. Recently we came to India and while coming I did not get our expired passports because I didn't think we would need them. But we were stopped at immigration and asked for expired passport along...
I didn't have to look too far for an answer. My wife checked online and found that there was a consular camp at Atlanta which is much closer to where I live than Houston. This way I can drive over and be back on the same day. And children don't need to be present as long as I have their...
My father's health has taken turn for worse in India. I need to go to India urgently with family but my 5 months old children don't have Indian visa (they are US citizens). I checked online and looks like consulate at Houston takes about 10 business days + mailing time to deliver visas. I don't...
Hi all, Though I have been a regular visitor to these forums for years, this is my first posting. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for invaluable input they provide.
I recently got approved (12/04). Someone told me that after getting GC, we have two years time to...
