I just got an email from my immigration attorney that the 3 year TN is now available.
<Snip from email:>
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has increased the maximum period of time a Trade-NAFTA (TN) professional worker from Canada or Mexico may remain in the United States...
I can understand your feelings on this C4S, I used to think like this too when I was growing up in Canada.
Now that I've been a part of the workforce for 30+ years, good god I'm an old codger, I've changed my tune greatly. Best person for the job best performer gets to keep the job regardless...
So you are buying into the hype that the IT business is going to go downhill? I am contacted by 4 - 6 recruiters/headhunters per month for posistions even when I am not looking for work. Not 1 recruiter/headhunter firm I have spoken with the past month has seen a drop in IT demand and I bet it...
Sure, no full day shot driving up to the WA/BC border. I loathe the trip up from the Seattle area. I cannot imagine what it's like from Olympia area :(
1 form 1 cheque wait 12 - 14 weeks, online case status tracking and email notificaton when a decision is made.
Only draw back is the new fee...
Legally the USCIS cannot reject you for "too long in the US" however scrutiny increases with multiple TN"s.
That said, the longer you're in the US for consecutive years the more scrutiny you may face at the border or airport.
I'm a good case I'm filing right now for my 15th or 16th TN since...
Hi;
Thought I would share this with the group so everyone has this information.
If you're payment transaction or form submission somehow fails and you get a message "Action Needed" be forewarned that once the issue is resolved USCIS will "PUSH" your form manually.
They only "PUSH", read we...
Your TN will be adjudicated in Calgary BEFORE you board the flight to the US.
Don't forget you may not be the only person there to need some sort of 'visa' or other "special processing". I would allow a minimum 2 hours extra over a normal pre-flight arrival time.
Unless you have a job you can transition to immediately, like this Monday, you need to file I-539 for you and your wife immediately.
Your wife is no longer TD even if it's been approved since her status is tied to your status and you are no longer TN now that your out of work.
Haven't found these specific answers via search so.....

I know there are some here who have electronically submitted TN's with Premium Processing and was wondering if Amex is accepted by USCIS?
Tried calling the NSC # but after 3 hours on hold today gave up....
TIA
I'm still looking for that "perfect company" that will commit to sponsoring TN --> GC as part of my employment package.
I have even offered to pay for my own lawyer for whole process and still no takers in 4 attempts.
I get dozens of job offers a year because I work on contract and because I...
Carmen;
H1B is now just a lottery nothing more nothing less. Are you willing to gamble with your future in the hope of winning this lottery?
I would take Nelson's advice and start looking for a new employer, one who is willing to do TN ---> GC sponsorship.
If I may be so bold as to suggest you find a new attorney post-haste. I have run into this "TN - H1B - GC" song and dance twice in the past 2 years.
I'm still looking for a company that is willing to "think outside the box" with regards to immigration sponsorship. Sadly, this seems to be akin...
