Yes, I was going to ask the same question. People think that each year has to be spent in the USA. My understanding is the *same*, its just a question of half the time in the USA over the 5 year period - not a restriction per year.

Consider the scenario: * You are a Perm Resident * UK national orginally * You are applying for n400 * You satisfy the 5yr 30/60 months lookback rule for residency * You have 4 trips to the UK for 5 months at a time in the last years * None of these trips have been more then 6 months...

There has probably been much discussion on this, but to be clear. The trips abroad of no longer then 6 months are *not* limited in any one year. So if you can prove that you have significant ties to the USA and have taken two 5 months trips in one year - then you have not broken the residency...
