Looks like Texas service center has become faster suddenly in issuing EADs and APs.
One of my friend's EAD application's receipt date at Texas center was 2/27/04 and he got his EAD on 3/26/04.
And one of my collegues AP was received in 65 days.
Looks like things are getting better!!!
You might have already known this info. But to make things more clear, I thought of sharing this information in this forum.

Yes, you need to give both I-94s when you leave the country. Infact, the instructions on the new I-94 asks you to keep it stapled to your old I-94.
When you reenter, you will be given new I-94 at the Port of entry valid till your visa expires(in your case March 2006)

I have visa till 5/14/04 in my passport. Can I send it for revalidation now. I heard that when existing visas are not within sixty days of expiration they will be sent back without revalidation. Is it true? Is this hard and fast rule? Are there any exceptions?
