Suffered from not being a PR, I surely know better than many how precious it is being one. Lost job in 1999 on H1B. Got an offer right away but could not go because INS required that you can only join the company after the approval of trasfering H1B at that time. Had to go back to school and...

you and your family members can pay in state tuition without being a PR. H1B or H4 will be enough for in state tuitions. At least we did it in NY state.

I believe every employee is eligible for severance. You SHOULD also be eligible if you are a PR. Being on this forum, I assume you can get unemployment pay also.

get a letter from your employer stating that THEY terminated the employment. You will be fine as long as you did not leave the job by yourself.

Stamped mine in SF last November. Msg changed to "completed..." Getting an update for "card ordered ..." by now for 12/18/01 stamp is definitely a blessing from God, for CSC folks at least.

You don\'t need a visa to Canada (and Mexico?) should you have a GC.
