Visa is going to be valid for 6 months. So it doesn't really matter if it's past September 2012 already. By September 2012 you have to have been done everything else - documents, interview, etc. that's what the deadline is for, not your visa.

That's a scam. Keep calling/emailing them and just push it, or just ask for your confirmation number and say that you'll do it by yourself. Push them, threaten them, get that confirmation number out of them, and them forget about them.
