    query delayed by 10 weeks

My girlfriend got a H1B query and her notice stated she had 3 months to respond to it. Check your notice, it should have a response-by date

How many of you carry the actual GC on person at all times?

Zaye, To answer your question, I don't carry my physical card with me unless i am travelling. I'll prefer to follow the apparently "wrong" instructions posted on the USCIS web-site, rather than risk losing my card and having to endure the 1 year wait to get a replacement. While the stamp...

    request for evidence: specialty occupation?

Hi, My girlfriend is currently on OPT applying for a new H1B visa from the Virginia Centre. She received a request for evidence from the centre asking to demonstrate that her job as an "applications developer" qualifies as a specialty occupation. She has a masters degree in C.S. and is...

    Income tax filing question

JoeF, You really love pretending to be right, don't you??? You made your point in your previous posting, but you had to keep hammering the point and revert back to your asinine behavior. Maybe you do need to get a life outside this newsgroup, and not make it your mission in life to...

    re-rentry comment

Are you sure it wasn't LPR? It stands for legal permanent resident. That's what they stamped on my passport last year.... They could probably use it to track how long a GC holder stays out of the country.

    Strange situation.....Please help........need your suggestion!!!!!!

Re: Immi4US BE CAREFUL TPK, I think this is the funniest (and most accurate :) posting i have seen on this site to this date. Keep up the good work in keep things light in these days of war and hatred. And don't worry about the insulting reply from you-know-who. It's in his nature to be an...

travel to Europe and an I-551 stamp

It was Germany, but I doubt it matters.... Although the stamp looks ordinary, everyone who should know about it does! I also remember the INS officer scanning it at the POE. I don't think you should worry about it. It is as good as having the plastic card.

travel to Europe and an I-551 stamp

I applied for a Schengen visa with my I-551 stamp last summer (July 2002) in San Francisco and had absolutely no problem getting the visa. The woman behind the counter knew exactly what it was. The only other thing they asked me for was for proof of employment in the U.S., and I had...

What questions are likely to be asked at POE?

I just got into SF, and I was asked: - How long were you gone? (20 days) - How did you get your CG? (Employer-sponsored) - Name of company? - Do you still work at the same company? (Yes) Then he asked me again if I was gone for under a month, and I replied yes, at which point he...

Wondering .. Staying out of US (< 6 mnths) because no Job.. whether problems at POE

I find it amazing that so many people, even after obtaining their Green Cards, live in daily, mortal fear of having it revoked by the INS. Here's what I feel about the situation: If you want to take a few months off because you've lost your job or simply because you want to take a break, do...

    Going back to India

Vibro, I think you are fighting a losing battle. This guy, JoeF, loves imposing his asinine ***opinions*** on the readers of this newsgroup. Time and again, he has reprimanded new users to the site for posting silly questions, and as you mentioned in your previous message, even his...

What's the current attorney fee for GC?

Wow! You really are one of those people who always need to get the last word in, eh? You should probably change your user-id to master-of-the-obvious if it doesn't violate any db size constraints. If the guy wanted a diatribe on the nature of a capitalistic society he would've asked for...
