Why u want to go on h1 from h4? EAD is much flexible which allows to work for any employer or multiple employers. If u want "in case " solution then let me tell u that h1 can also be revoked..so she wil have to come back again on h4. She can always come back on H4 as long as base H1 is...

For 485 u can certainly get reciept number. For I-140 its also possible.But I-140 being company's case ,some companies give it and some donot. If they give, u can track on www.immigration.gov. Generally it takes 2-3 weeks to get reciept.

When it was revoked ? After 180 days of 485 or before that? What r implications of that? If person is already using EAD what is process of coming back on h1b? Does person needs to go out of country to get h1 visa again? I would like to extend thread for people for whom 140 was revoked or...
