Number of Naturalization Applicants Falls 62%

The specific figures from the article are: "1.38 million people filed applications in 2007, creating a backlog that nearly tripled the average processing time. Last year, the number of applicants fell to 525,786, the smallest since 2003. The largest was 1.41 million, in 1997, just before...

Traffic ticket a week before oath!

At the introduction to our oath ceremony preparations, an IO actually stood in the front of the room and announced to everyone that minor traffic violations were not an issue in terms of the answers we had to provide on the oath letter questions. If it was a speeding ticket that did not...

Number of Naturalization Applicants Falls 62%

I agree with Jackolantern. In most cases, there is no compelling economic reason for people to naturalize if they are already green card holders. The exceptions include people who benefit significantly from being U.S. citizens in particular job markets such as the Washington DC metro area...

Number of Naturalization Applicants Falls 62%

Article in the Washington Post today about the decline in the number of naturalization applications between 2008 and the peak in mid-2007. This is said to be because of both the fee increase and the deteriorating economic conditions...

    Proper Attire?

Business casual is perfectly fine. You want to create a decent or "neutral" impression, get in there, and get out as quickly and cleanly as possible... Absolutely no comment...but the interview itself would not be a good time to bring your "good moral character" into question... :)

Is that possible requesting to take a look with my A-file during the interview?

The only way to request your A-File is through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. It typically takes 9 months to a year to receive your A-File. There is a separate thread on this forum that deals specifically with requesting your A-File...

    Significance of Yellow Letter?

The yellow "Request for Evidence" standard letter is issued usually between the fingerprint appointment and the interview appointment. I don't think it means anything with regard to whether your fingerprints have passed, I think it just means that USCIS has received notification in its workflow...

    Passport received, BUT

The double-dot on top of the 'o' in 'König' is called an umlaut. It is customary in many Germanic alphabets such as German, Swedish, Danish, and so on. It changes the pronounciation of the vowel sound for the letter over which it appears. The following is the text of the law governing the...

Traffic tickets and naturalization (threads merged)

If your old speeding tickets did not involve drugs or alcohol and had fines of less than $500 each, you generally do not need to worry about them.

Traffic tickets and naturalization (threads merged)

This is barely a minor traffic offense. It is not worth mentioning to an IO and it definitely doesn't come close to a 'Yes' response on that N-400 question. I don't think it is an issue and I don't think you should bring it up.

    N-400 Interview Please help.

If the issue was resolved as a civil matter between two agencies, and you had no personal criminal liability, I don't think this is an issue. I wouldn't worry about it and I don't see any need to bring it up.

Do we need to list trips < 24 hrs?

As we discussed in your separate post, secondary inspection at a POE is not a big deal and in your case, it is likely not the same thing as "detention" on suspicion of actively conducting or conspiring to conduct criminal activity. They have your fingerprints from your LPR application, so I...
