    Proposed Passport Fee Hike

Why am I not surprised by this? Am I to believe just because they have a more secure document that it costs more to produce? Or rather 35% more to produce? I think they are just trying to recoup all that money spent on opening additional production facilities just to keep up with...

    Passport card vs. Enhanced DL

Yes They Are Yes - EDLs are in compliance with the READ ID ACT. Attached is a document from the CBP that talks to this point on page 3. Here is a direct link to the paper: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/

Dual Citizen - Traveling With Two Passports

Yes - can you please explain why? As was mentioned numerous times in this thread, the general rule for dual citizens is to enter each country with that country's passport.

Is it okay to have more than one certificate of citizenship?

That's not true. If you provide originals of documents that prove your citizenship like a valid passport card/enhanced driver's license - or even copies of documents like a NC, they will investigate your case. Remember there are may ways of checking citizenship status such as an A#, SSN (since...

    N565 Need help!!!

My bad.... you're right Huracan - it is a service center as opposed to the local DO. That changes the game a bit doesn't it? I would check the status online and also call the 800# and submit an inquiry or something.

    To LolaLi and others regarding N 400, Q 27,28

Hey - Sorry for the delayed response. I have been away for a few weeks. Yes - please select 'NO' since the only reason you were placed in deportation proceedings was due to the fact that you were referred to an Immigration Judge. I marked 'No' to both questions and did not have a problem -...

    N565 Need help!!!

Processing of the N565 takes a long time - upwards to one year even. You should continuously monitor the application and ask for a status update from time to time. So have your husband schedule an Info Pass to inquire about the application. Whatever you do, don't lose that receipt notice as it...

Passport Book or Passport Card or Both

I think it is a matter of being uneducated or unaware rather than whether or not one is a real or 'fake' American. The date formatting on all legal documents are pretty much standard. As is the use of "surname" and "given names" - it is the same on a US birth certificate as it is on the passport...

    N-600 Help

I completely concur with Just Shoot Me. A certificate means a permanent record tied directly to your child's A-number is created and kept on file. Yes it is costly, but it establishes your child's citizenship for life - without ever requiring the need for documentation proving your relationship...

Asylee N-400 Interview Experiences and 2009 Tracker

It's been a while since I've peeked in here....and I am very pleased to see so many people getting their citizenship. Congratulations to all those that have been naturalized!

Do years prior to naturalization count towards the 5 year physical presence ?

Read the INA Act 301 section (g) - the law does not specify the US citizen parent's 5 year presence in the US must be while they are a citizen. http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?dockey=c9fef57852dc066cfe16a4cb816838a4 Here is more of the law...

Former US citizen - how can she get citizenship again? Please help

Correct - if she has renounced her citizenship or lost it as a direct consequence of obtaining Canadian citizenship pre-1986, then that cannot be regained. She would have to apply for citizenship by filing for it. It appears that she is no longer a US citizen by the mere fact that she had to be...

Technically a citizen - but need your help!

You can also file the form G-884 "Return of Original Documents" - if you are certain the original birth certificate is contained within your A-file. USCIS will return your original document to you. Go here for more information...

Do years prior to naturalization count towards the 5 year physical presence ?

Actually you should file an appeal with the Administrative Appeals Office for the refusal of the N600 if you believe it is unjust. There are many instances where an N-600 was originally denied - mostly to sheer stupidity - only to be overturned by the AAO. Go here for a listing of cases worked...

Do years prior to naturalization count towards the 5 year physical presence ?

It is actually in the application form instructions - section K. As you can see, the instruction does not say time spent in the USA as a citizen.
