I received a letter from the Dept. of Homeland Security (USCIS). The form is called I-797, Notice of Action. In the letter it says : Notice Type: Duplicate Approval Notice.
Does this mean I got my J1-Waiver and that the process is over?
Thanks,
I am nervous - someone help me.
Favorable Recommendation is NOT your final J1-WAIVER. This is only the first stage of the application - final waiver is given by USCIS. Check with USCIS for your status now.
you can get a j1 waiver for several reasons, like if you dont want to return to your home country for fear of persecution, or if you have a no oobjection statement from your gvt (and your education wasnt funded by the US govt). tunder those circumstances you dont need a job offer first - you...
When you get the J1 Waiver - can you apply for H1B visa before you get a job, or you need a job offer first before applying for H1B.

However, it...

I called USCIS today and the lady told me that they no longer generate letters with Receipt Notices? So I then told her that what do I do if I want to change my address. She then looked in their records and then gave me my receipt number. I found this a bit odd because how does one get to know...
I called Vermont Service Center, but I had no luck. The ladies I spoke to did not want to answer my question. They told me to go to the nearest office. The infopass thing tells me my nearest sub-office is 4 hours away.

Is this normal? If I need answers who do I contact (DOS said they no longer have...
